Bahia Palace in Marrakech – sharing beauty but not doing it justice

If a picture equals 1000 words the following pictures only permit the viewer a blink of the eye to take in beauty which when in its presence seems to engulf all the senses. As you view these pictures, you may get a hint of what we experienced when we visited the palace.

The symmetry and harmonious blending of color is in total contrast to the chaos in the narrow streets within the Medina where this palace is located. These narrow, ancient city streets with air pollution, motorbikes, push carts, donkey wagons, gawking tourists, and hurried locals are in great contrast to the serenity within the palace.  (some pictures coming in the next post)

Some of the colored glass is missing from these windows because of earthquake damage 2 years ago. Restoration is still occurring.
Amazing plaster work
Pretty amazing place, but we wonder how the person who had this built amassed the wealth required to build this palace.
